About Slade:-
Slade were an English rock band formed in Wolverhampton in the 1960s, becoming one of Britain's biggest and most recognisable glam rock acts during the 1970s. The classic line-up consisted of Noddy Holder, Dave Hill, Jim Lea and Don Powell. Their distinctive appearance, energetic performances and catchy songs helped make them hugely popular with British audiences.
The band's breakthrough came with Coz I Luv You in 1971, their first UK number-one single. They followed it with a remarkable run of chart successes, including Take Me Bak 'Ome, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Cum On Feel the Noize and Merry Xmas Everybody.
Slade were particularly famous for their deliberately unconventional spelling of song titles and their flamboyant glam rock image. Their music combined powerful guitars with memorable melodies and Noddy Holder's distinctive vocals.
Although their popularity declined after the height of the glam rock era, Slade remained a successful live act and continued performing for many years. Merry Xmas Everybody has become one of Britain's best-loved Christmas songs and regularly returns to the charts.
Slade's influence on British rock and glam music remains significant, with their energetic sound and memorable songs continuing to attract new generations of fans.
