About Wham!:-
Wham! were an English pop duo formed in Hertfordshire in 1981 by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. They became one of Britain's most successful pop acts of the 1980s, combining catchy pop songs with a youthful image and energetic performances.
Their breakthrough came with the 1983 album Fantastic, which produced successful singles including Young Guns (Go for It!). Their international success increased dramatically with the album Make It Big, featuring hits such as Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Careless Whisper, Freedom! and Everything She Wants.
George Michael was the group's principal songwriter and vocalist, while Andrew Ridgeley contributed guitar and backing vocals. Their music developed from upbeat pop towards more sophisticated songwriting and production.
Wham! achieved enormous international success and became particularly popular in the United States, Europe and Australia. In 1985, they became the first Western pop group to perform in China.
The duo split in 1986 as George Michael concentrated on his solo career. Their final single, The Edge of Heaven, reached number one in the UK.
Wham!'s colourful image, memorable songs and joyful pop sound have ensured their music remains popular decades after their split. Their Christmas classic Last Christmas has become an enduring seasonal favourite and continues to chart internationally.
